 Instructions by iPhone model

 iPhone X, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14

 iPhone SE (Second and third generation), iPhone 6, iPhone 7 or iPhone 8

 iPhone 5 or iPhone SE (first generation)

 Force a reboot of the device

 How to restart iPhone 5 or iPhone SE(first generation)

 If you want to quickly reboot the iPhone 5 or the first generation iPhone SE, this can be done from the top power button on your iPhone.

 Press and hold the top power button on the phone until the "slide to power off" slider appears, then slide this to the right and your iPhone will lock.

 How to restart iPhone SE (Second and third generation), iPhone 6, iPhone 7 or iPhone 8

 If you own any model of iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 6 or the second and third generation iPhone SE, the power button will be located on the side of your device.

 To restart the iPhone, press and hold the power button until you see" slide to power off", slide the slider to the right and your iPhone will shut down.

 Wait about twenty to thirty seconds and your device will shut down.  To turn the phone on again, press and hold the power button on the side of the iPhone until you see the Apple logo.  Your iPhone will take a few seconds to turn on and will return to its normal state.

 How to restart iPhone X, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 or iPhone 14

 On iPhone X, 11, 12, 13 and iPhone 14 models, you will need to press two buttons at the same time to restart your device.

 To do this on these phones, Press and hold the Volume Down button or Volume Up button on the left side along with the power button on the right side.  You should use only one of the power buttons, and it doesn't matter which one you choose.

 Now you will see a shutdown slider appear on the screen, drag this to the right and your iPhone will now be closed.

 To restart your iPhone, all you have to do is press and hold the power button on the right side of the device, as soon as you see the Apple logo, let go of the power button and your iPhone will turn on again.


 How to force an iPhone device reboot

 If you are having trouble with your iPhone and it does not turn on or off, you can try to force a reboot on the phone.

 The way this is done depends on the device you are using and also on the version of Apple iOS that you are running.  There are contrasts between iOS 16 and iOS 15 gadgets.
